1. A new hobby
2. Writing
3. Sign my petition
1. I think that I have found a new hobby. Actually you could say that this hobby has found me. I was asked by the General Manager of CB & Potts to be the new trivia host. This hobby accomplishes several things that I have been looking to accomplish. The first of which is that it gives me something to do in my spare time. So in researching trivia questions it gives me a chance to waste some time in this endeavor.
The second of the things that it accomplishes is that hosting trivia gets some extra money in my pocket. Part of this extra income comes from the money that they would be paying me. The other part comes from the money that I can be making by not participating in trivia every Thursday. I am going to estimate that this savings is about $10-$20 per week. This equates to a little less than $1000 per year. In case you didn’t know I am a nerd.
The third thing that this hobby accomplishes is that I have a purpose behind by research. It will give me a chance to actually spend time in a library and not look like a complete nerd. So I’ll see you all in the library from time to time.
2. I have been contemplating this fact. I think that I going to start to write a story. I am first going to strive for a short story. Judging by my previous blog related rambling a short story might turn into an extremely long one. Hell, in grad school I wrote an 84 page paper, when the entire professor said in handing it back was “good”.
Why am I considering it? It gives me something to write about without expressing the doldrums of real life. I imagine that there will be several life inspired situations in this story. Well that’s how people make stories seem more realistic. Now all I need to write my story is a topic of interest to me.
3. At the bottom of this link I have attached a link to a petition to get my father to install a hot tub at our condo in Alaska. This would be a very valuable addition. I need all of the signatures that I can muster so please sign. Thanks!!!! http://www.petitiononline.com/mod_perl/signed.cgi?JEFFHARR

Birthday's in College Towns
1. Birthdays
So I've realized that as I get older birthday's get worse and worse. I think that the official reason for that may lie outside the normal realm of age. In my case I think that it is also due to the fact that I am getting older in a college town. It was ok for a while when I was near the age of the college kids.
Now though it is getting old. I just want to celebrate a time with some friends where I won't feel like such an old person. It would really feel good. Tonight I went out with Chad, Lara, Paul, and Tamara for a few rounds. At the bar it was obvious that we were some of the oldest people in the bar.
I think that I have realized that I have to find some new friends in Fort Collins. This may be the cause of my boredom. All of my friends are either couples or in Denver. If anyone knows of some people in the fort that are looking to hang out let me know. I would really like to meet some people who are outside of the college aged crowd. What would be even better would be if you knew someone that I didn't know through work. I would like to have a conversation with some people that didn't involve work. That might have been what was cool about tonight.
Thanks to the four of you who came out tonight. It really meant a lot.

Back from a Literary Vacation
I’m back…
1. Why I left, and welcome back
2. Why I changed sites
3. Work
4. Life
5. Birthday’s
6. Potts
1. I left from writing blogs because I was getting myself into trouble. People I cared about were getting hurt. Well those people have decided that they no longer want to see me. Well fuck it, I’m back. The two good things about taking a break are that I have a shit load of material to get you caught up on, and I got to take a literary vacation. That vacation felt good, but like real vacations I can’t take being away for too long.
2. I changed sites because I had too many people looking at my blogs on myspace. Some people from work were trying to access the site. They weren’t liking what I was writing. Well if I change where I host my drivel then I can stay ahead of the undesirables. Feel free to invite people to this blog. I invited you to this site because I trust you and I want to share whats going on with me.
For the undesirables I will continue to post top 5 lists. That ought to keep them entertained one snippet at a time. For you lucky few you get a double dose of asshole.
3. Work has been going well. However something’s about it piss me the fuck off. That makes me like everyone else I guess. This week I was officially given the promotion that I have been working in for the past 10 months. I found out about the promotion at a staff meeting. When the director announced the promotion I knew it was too good to be true and ‘the man’ would find a way to make me bend over.
Bend over I did. The director came to me at a break and said that I am going to be getting a 5% raise. Well this put me at below the minimum of what this level is supposed to make. I didn’t accept the position initially so I could have the opportunity to negotiate the salary. I could negotiate if I declined the position and it opened up to a national search (again).
I later found out through a crass email that I didn’t have the right to negotiate the salary. I had two days to determine whether or not I was going to accept the promotion. What do I do? I wait until the last minute to accept the promotion. The worst part was that I was told directly that if I didn’t accept the promotion I would still have to work in the position at my current salary and train the new person in the job.
Its not that I don’t like the job its just that the director pissed me off in this situation. I figure that I have busted my ass for over 7 years. I’ve spent time in the position and it has seriously cost me in my personal life (Brandi). I’m taking this situation as a signal that I am worth less then the minimum to CSU. Well I accepted the promotion to get a raise. Now I am starting the job search again. I’m going to do just enough to get by. I’ve already applied at three schools (Mizzou, University of Texas, and Brown) I’m jumping the ship at the first decent opportunity.
The part that really chaps my ass is that on Monday while I was contemplating my options on the job, the Associate Director wanted to sit down with me after work. Going into this little rendezvous I didn’t know the purpose of the meeting but I could assume that it was about my hesitance to accept the position.
Here are 5 things that were covered in that meeting.
1. She didn’t know me outside of the work environment. SLAP IN THE FACE. I’ve only worked with her for 7.5 years.
2. She agreed that the director was out of line in offering less then the minimum. WHY DIDN’T YOU SAY ANYTHING UNTIL NOW?
3. She reminded me that I’m not leaving the position regardless of whether I accept it or not.
4. She reminded me that I need to be a team player. EXCUSE ME I AM CAPTAIN CSU. I live CSU, volunteer for everything.
5. She wanted to know a little about me. I told her a little bit but since she hasn’t picked anything up over 7.5 years I’m not starting now.
My response at the end of the meeting was that, “CSU needs me right now more than I need CSU. I have a third option. I can quit and the department goes to shit, since I am the only person at CSU who knows how to do the job.” Later I continued, “ By the way I made more money working as an assistant manager at Wendy’s then I do now.”
Yes, I am slightly upset right now.
Other than the pain in the ass promotion, things at work are going well. I am working my ass off on the national hockey tournament right now. That event starts on March 7th so stop on by.
4. Well The girl that I was ranting about and was the reason why I stopped writing blogs about life decided to end things. The reason for this was that I had more feelings then she did. Oh well, I’m freaking over it now, hence return to blogging.
So back to single life I guess.
5. I hate birthdays but I like friends. I like when my friends come on up to the fort and see me. By the way thanks Peter and Alissa for the stop in at work this week. Ok back on track now. I am currently planning a get together next weekend (March 3 exactly). It won’t be a big deal but basically I’m going to sit down at Potts and fall into some Mug Club Blondes. So I’d like it if a bunch of you came up for the event. I am pretty sure that day I’ll be hitting up the brewery tours so come on up early. I’ll ask Lindsay for instructions on sending out an EVITE.
6. There is an outside chance that I might be the next host of trivia at CB & Potts in Ft. Collins. That could be fun. I already have some changes planned to make it more fun and exciting. If I end up hosting trivia I would like each of you to make it up to FT. Collins at least once to see the disaster occur.
7. Well that’s enough for now. I’ll write more later. Oh, and if your looking for a top 5 list go to my myspace page.
